A Few Thoughts and Datas Regarding the World of Arteriosclerosis
- Arteriosclerosis: 19% of the people become disabled
- The 55% of deaths originates from circulatory diseases
- Nearly one million legs are amputated wordwide due to arteriosclerosis a
year
- In Hungary nearly 5,000 legs are amputated in each year
- The price of an artificial leg is between 400-1000 Euros
- The treatment of a patient (with operation), amputation, artifical limb,
becoming disabled, benefits, pension costs
5,000-100,000 Euros
- Arteriosclerosis causes not only the narrowing of the movement of the
patient but also the narrowing of his menthal happiness, optimism and
creativity
- The menthal pain is much more severe for the patients than the physical
suffering. We, surgeons, try to treat the physical symtomps, but often forget
about and fail to notice the mental suffering because the patients usually
fail to inform us about them. Naturally, we do not even think about dealing
with the mental state of the patient, because we are not qualified for that,
there is no relevant training and work-protocoll for that.
