Title: A self-reconfiguring vision system for a quantitative analysis of images presenting heat-emitting objects
The problem the inventor(s) wanted to solve Authors wanted to completely automate high-temperature measurements of metals and alloys surface properties by developing algorithm of optical filters self-acting change which change filters during the measurements done by presented vision system. So far the change was done manually.

Description. Presented vision system performs precise shape analysis of hot metals and alloys specimens. Particular attention should be paid to intelligent algorithm of optical filters self-acting change implemented in presented vision system. The algorithm based on analysis of properties of images obtained during the measurement determines the moment when current optical filter should be changed for the stronger one. In consequence human interference during the measurements is completely eliminated.

Fields of application metallurgy, soldering, welding, glass making
Advantages Presented vision system allow to overcome most problems appearing during high-temperature measurements, where objects emitting intense thermal radiation have to be viewed.  Due to modern structural solutions combined with advanced digital image processing and analysis algorithms application, high precision of image quantitative analysis is achieved for a wide range of temperatures (up to 18000C).
