Title: :
Metal-ceramic composite Ti6Al4V-TiN
The problem the
inventor(s) wanted to solve: An improvement of the tribological proper-ties of titanium alloys offered in
the invention consists in manufacturing of metal-ceramic composite with
matrix of Ti6Al4V titanium alloy reinforced by interstitial ceramic TiN phase.
Description: The authors of the invention managed to manufacture
an uniform composite Ti6Al4V-TiN in the whole volume of an important hardness
(1500VHN0,1÷2000 VHN0.1), with a lower value
of dry friction coefficient and greater resistance to fretting wear (the wear
volu-me is 30÷40 times less than that of the metal
matrix) and of greater resistance to electro-chemical corrosion in the Tyrod’s solution than that of the metal matrix from
Ti6Al4V alloy.
Presentation: It is the technology of preparing metal-ceramic
composite.
Fields of application:
mobile
machine parts, biocompatible hip-joints.
Advantages: Owing
to these favourable characteristics it is plausible to extend the application
of titanium alloys onto mobile machine parts as well as onto biocompatible
hip-joints of lower density and greater resistance to wear in comparison to
metal hip-joints used at the present moment.
