James Halliburton:
WATER BUOY
The inventor: James Halliburton
Mr.
Halliburton was offered a £200 000 investment into his product for 25% of
his company’s profit. -
He rejected it. - Too exploitative.
The problem
If you have ever dropped you car or house keys into the
water from a boat or the quayside, you know what the problem is.
The solution
The keys are hung on a small capsule, which has a water
inlet closed by a soluable plug. Inside the capsule, a strong balloon full of
compressed air is
allowed to expand when the water enters
the capsule. The inflated balloon acting
as a buoy comes to the surface and turnes on a light visible from 250 meters
for 24 hours. It brings back the dropped keys or anything lighter than 1 Kg.
Status
The Water
Buoy is protected by patents and it is
