MINOX 2018 Exhibition was run in Riga, the capital of the Republic of Latvia on the 12th and 13th of Octo- IFIA Mag azine
ber 2018. The Exhibition took place in a beautiful Hall of the University of Latvia, organized by Association
“CONNECT Latvia”, Latvian Inventors Association and Latvian Academy of Sciences with the support of local
partners and IFIA.

For the first time before the MINOX 2018 four regional exhibitions – MINOX Kurzeme, MINOX Latgale, MI-
NOX Vidzeme and MINOX Zemgale – were organized in Latvia during 2018. In the final MINOX 2018 Exhibi-
tion in Riga 78 inventions and innovative products were presented by inventors from all Latvian regions and
foreign countries of Lithuania, Germany, Sweden, Sri Lanka and Taiwan (Republic of China).

The Grand Prix as of decision by the Jury was awarded to the most outstanding invention “Check Your Skin”
– Portable device for early non-contact diagnosis of skin cancer, invention by Ms Ilona Kuzmina, Mr Aleksejs
Lihacovs and Mr Dmitrijs Bliznuks from University of Latvia and Riga Technical University.

Gold prize went to Mr Helvijs Vicivskis and Mr Uldis Zaimis of University of Liepaja for invention “Robot-
ized manipulator – robot arm”, Silver – to a team of researchers from University of Daugavpils for “New
luminescent dyes for biological objects” and Bronze to Mr Armands Grickus of University of Liepaja for
invention “Foamed polystirol”. The best International projects were nominated and the 1st place granted to
Prof Chien-Heng Chou (Taiwan, Republic of China) for “An improved approach to learn physics”, 2nd place
to Ms W.M. Shanika Warnakulsooriya of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka for “Natural Magic Booster
– organic fertilizer for crops and soil” and 3rd to Mr Aleksas Alfonsas Pasilis (Lithuania) for “Reciprocal (longi-
tudinal motion) electric power generator or motor”. As the best School project was recognized “Automatic
plant watering system” by Kristians Vinters and Kaspars Paberzs from Jelgava city.

Next International Invention and Innovation Exhibition MINOX 2020 will take place in Riga in October of
THE 7TH INTERNATIONAL 2020.
