 WINNER IN  IFIA’s Best Invention Medal was granted to Mr. Shang

 SVIIF 2018:  Jianzhong for his invention of a device for non-sur-

 gical male circumcision showcased in Silicon Valley
 International Invention Festival (SVIIF) held from July
 2nd to 4th 2018 in Santa Clara Convention Center.


 Mr. Shang Jianzhong has managed to obtain finan-
 cial support from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
 which also became its global partner for preventing
 HIV. The World Health Organization (WHO) is going
 to use this technology in their global anti-AIDS pro-
 gram, as well.


 Trainings on the application of this device have been
 successfully provided in African countries includ-
 ing Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania as well as the
 U.S.A, Canada, Britain, Australasia, Japan, the Middle
 East, Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong areas un-
 der the patronage of Bill & Melinda Gates Founda-
 tion and supervision of WHO.

 During his speech at Stanford, Bill Gates said that sci-
 entists and engineers need to focus on developing
 products that help improve the lives of the world’s
 poor even through the market directs people to
 help the wealthiest.


 He also cited research showing that the risk of ac-
 quiring HIV goes down among men who are circum-
 SUPPORTED BY  cised, and described a newly developed plastic ring
 to make the procedure easier and less expensive for
 BILL & MELINDA  teenagers and adults. “It is a fantastic development.
 It’s just plastic, it’s very cheap” he said. It reduces
