Puntar Bulb An Innovative Revolution in
Provides a Reliable Electric Drive System
Source of Light
The last decade has seen a very dynamic development
of sources of light incorporating the latest technology in
the production of Light Emitting Diode (LED), new op-
tical systems, and recently the need for environmental
protection.
The PUNTAR light is a technical solution aiming to re-
place the existing defected lighthouse bulb with double
filament B22d, used as standard in marine signaling,
with LEDs completed with the optics and the electronic
flash and the new developed remote control electronics.
The glass balloon of the standard defected bulb is bro-
ken and the metal base is grinded to remove the remain-
ing glass. The aluminum hexagonal profile is fitted as a
frame for LEDs and optics.
The Puntar bulb has two lines, 3 light diodes each. Each
line connects every second LED in a series, i.e. in case of
one line malfunction, light will still be working and the
regulation of outpower increases accordingly.

Prof. TIAN Guangyu and his team won IFIA Best
Invention Medal in World Invention and Inno-
vation Forum (WIIF) 2017 for their invention
titled “Electric-drive Mechanical Transmission
without clutch, synchronizer and shift impact”.
The ‘impact-less shifting’ control technique is
based on complex systematic dynamic opti-
mal control scheme of comprehensive perfor-
mance. It breaks through the bottleneck which
restricts the large-scale popularization and ap-
plication of EMT in electric vehicles.
This ‘impact-less shifting’ EMT powertrain is
compact and it mainly includes motor, me-
chanical transmission and automatic shift
mechanism.
Meanwhile, it is maintenance-free, low cost
and high efficiency due to the removal of two
friction parts clutch and synchronizer. A trans-
mission control unit (TCU) with all intellectual
properties has been developed independently
to execute and control the shift process. Nowa-
days, with the rapid growth of electric vehicles,
especially electric commercial vehicles such as
buses, logistics vehicles and municipal vehicles,
the research team provides an overall solution
for low cost, high efficiency, high reliability and
high safety electric drive systems.
