THE MOST The First Institute of Canadian Inventors (FICI) was one of the participants on this event as a

AMAZING representative of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA). During two
days of event FICI made many partnerships and collaborations with all colleges and universi-
TECHNOLOGIES ties of Ontario and many of the high-tech companies such as IBM.

DISPLAYED IN Many Canadian entrepreneurs and inventors were benefited from FICI’s services during this
event and they got familiar with supportive programs offered by IFIA and also Government
OCE DISCOVERY of Canada. Few inventors and entrepreneurs also registered for international competitions
through FICI booth. At the end of the event FICI hosted Hon. Reza Moridi, Minister of Innova-
CONFERENCE tion, Science and Education. During his visit from FICI’s booth, Babak Khodaparast, President
of FICI and representative of IFIA in Canada, gave him a complete update of their recent ac-
tivities and future competitions. He was impressed by FICI’s activities and pointed they have
done a great job so far.

Once a year, Ontario trots out its bright-
est companies, hippest startups, and
most amazing technologies and sets a
stage for it all at OCE Discovery confer-
ence in downtown Toronto. This year,
over 3,600 attendees, 550 companies
and exhibitors made Discovery a pretty
hot ticket.

During her keynote speech, Megan
Smith–once a CTO of the United States, a
VP at Google, an MIT graduate, and now
spearheading shift7 (that’s the “&” sym-
bol on the keyboard)–gave a Silicon Val-
ley blessing to the Canadian event. Smith
expressed her belief that “if we include
everyone, we can fix nearly everything.”

First day of the event started with the
participation of Sophia, the first human
robot and her inventors joined the open-
ing ceremony with hologram while he
was in Hong Kong. This event took place
for two days and in the second day Min-
ister of Innovation, Reza Moridi partici-
pated in the award Ceremony.
